First I would like to thank you for participating in my
research. The purpose of this research project is to identify specific
weaknesses or gaps in current training programs and leadership strategies
unique to lean enterprise. I will openly admit that regardless of how much I
know about lean processes there is always more to learn. This is true of all
of us. As so wisely stated by James Womack, founder of the Lean Enterprise
Institute, there are no lean 'experts'; only those with more experience. As
such, I have made a commitment to continue to conduct research on this topic
in order to share my work in both academics and industry.
~ Motivation for my research ~
There is such a wealth of information available related to
the actual lean enterprise processes and techniques, but so little research
on employee behavior in such an environment. Those of us with some
experience in implementing lean methods are well aware of employee
resistance to these new processes. The reasons for resistance are numerous
but I intend to address the most common reasons for resistance and from this
develop more effective training programs and leadership strategies.
Regardless of how perfect your processes are, if your employees are not
fully prepared, success is unlikely. The same can be said for your managers
and leaders. Leadership roles are unique in a lean environment. A transition
to lean enterprise requires training on all levels in your organization.
Through my continuous research I will develop a comprehensive guide for
preparing the workforce for the lean enterprise.
~ Risks, Benefits, and Confidentiality ~
Your personal information will remain confidential. It will
not be shared with any third party nor will sensitive information be
disclosed in my findings. I will maintain information submitted by
participants solely for the purpose of ensuring that there are no duplicate
entries. This information will be deleted upon completion of the research
project. There are no perceived risks associated with this research. The
anticipated findings will be of benefit to all members of the workforce that
are currently or soon will be working in a lean environment.
Once again, thank you for your participation.
